A walk in forest time
Forest Bathing & Creative Exploration
I hope to invite the participant into an intimate conversation with nature, perhaps even a slow dance. Encourage the student to touch, hear, see, taste and feel the forest through all one’s senses. Slow down, breathe deeply, engage, observe, tune in. Nature can be a mirror to what we ultimately seek to find and understand.
During this six-week workshop, students will participate in a 75-minute weekly Forest Therapy walk encouraging exploration of nature through our senses. Each walk is an opportunity in self-awareness and sensory exploration and appreciation. Forest Therapy is a form of Eco-Therapy internationally recognized as a public health practice. Nature can create a sense of calm; provide a safe environment; and offer positive physical and emotional health improvements.
After each Forest Therapy walk, a 60-minute creative workshop will follow with lecture and independent study to return to the woods on your own to further explore via photography, drawing, gathering.
In the final class, we will celebrate with a forest therapy walk and tea ceremony.
Students will also have the opportunity to present their unique creative projects.
